Welcome to Peruvian Amazon, where art meets ancestral medecine

Casa Purawa is a unique space in the heart of the Peruvian Amazon, a place for both creation and the transmission of knowledge.

Directed by Casilda, a recognized artist and medicine woman, the project has been offering painting workshops for over 10 years, teaching techniques inspired by visionary art.

Visionary art in the Amazon is an artistic movement inspired by shamanic visions, often induced by sacred plants such as Ayahuasca. It depicts invisible worlds, nature spirits and intricate geometric patterns, with vivid colors and rich symbolism, serving to express cultural identity and ancestral knowledge.

Originally, the site welcomed members of the surrounding Kokama indigenous communities (Loreto department). The aim was to help young people develop their artistic talents and express their cultural identity. Recovering collective memory through pictorial art remains a lever for cultural affirmation. Today, they are still free to come and paint, and some have become recognized artists.

Casa Purawa is also a venue for spiritual and medicinal retreats.

In Amazonian societies, Ayahuasca ceremonies are among the most common and ancient of shamanic medicinal practices.

With over 20 years' experience, Casilda offers herbal retreats, including Ayahuasca, which provide healing on three levels: mental, physical and spiritual.
